The Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group operate in the Canning, Wungong and Southern River Catchments. The team coordinates planning, community action and awareness programs. It is a community group of elective and senior staff representatives of the City of Armadale and the City of Gosnells, government agencies and landowners.

How we plan to protect our rivers and bushland
By utilizing Integrated Catchment Management or ICM. Integrated Catchment Management focuses policies and programs of government agencies on common goals, sharing resources & expertise and decision making with landowners and the community. It relies on community awareness, support and participation.

Strategies
1. To implement the catchment management plan
2. To ensure policy makers are aware of their environmental responsibilities to the
catchment and its rivers
3. To support, assist, promote and coordinate community based groups to care for the
catchments and their waterways
4. To promote the river as an educational resource

Objectives for Catchment Management
Improve water quality protection
Develop public awareness and advocacy program
Reduce pollution from landuse activities
Reduce degradation in the rivers and catchments
Protect, maintain and restore vegetation and biodiversity
Ensure integrated land management in the catchment
Improve strategic and local planning for ICM

Draft Strategic Plan 2008-2018
The Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG) is an independent, incorporated local catchment group. To date, the activities of the AGLG have been directed by the Upper Canning Southern Wungong Catchment Management Plan, prepared in 1999. However, since the existing plan was published there have been some significant changes and advances to natural resource management. To keep abreast of these changes, the AGLG have prepared a draft Strategic Plan, which aims to direct the activities of the Group into the future. This plan is formulated on an asset-based approach and includes a number of actions, many of which may be implemented in partnership with key stakeholders. The draft Strategic Plan is open for your consideration and comments, particularly in regard to the actions where your organisation is listed as a ‘partner organisation’. The Plan will be open for stakeholder comment until C.O.B on 1st September 2008.
