Projects and activities
SERCUL
provides ideas of cross curricula environmental projects or activities
linked to the outcomes from the 8 Learning Areas across 3 themes:
1. Caring for Local Bushlands
Environmental vision
To
promote awareness and understanding of local bushlands
To protect existing
local bushlands
To develop new
habitat for local plants and animals
Protect bushlands
and wetlands from degrading processes. eg. develop weed control
and eradication measures or to protect bushland from dieback disease
School communities might decide to restore or rehabilitate
an area of local bushland. Some schools have bushland on site at
school. Their hands-on learning can happen without leaving the school
grounds! Where ever the bushland is – taking on a bushland
restoration or rehabilitation project is a large, long term commitment.
2. Caring for Local Wetlands and Waterways
Environmental vision
To
promote awareness and understanding of local wetlands and waterways
To
protect existing local wetlands and waterways
To
develop new habitat for local plants and animals
To
protect and restore water quality
Protect
wetlands and waterways from degrading processes. eg. develop weed
control and eradication measures
3. Fun with Frogs
Environmental vision
To promote awareness
and understanding of local frogs
To encourage
frogs back into local ecosystems by developing and maintaining habitat
for local frogs. eg. frog bogs
