Mary Carroll Park Gosnells WAAbout Mary Carroll Park
Mary Carroll Park is located in Gosnells and can be accessed from Eudoria Street. Mary Carroll Park was named in 1971 in honour of Mrs Mary Carroll, a well-known teacher at the nearby Gosnells Primary School.

Mary Carroll Park is a major breeding wetlands. It supports large numbers of water birds, songbirds, reptiles, turtles and a reservoir of wetland flora.

Mary Carroll Park is a ‘Bush Forever’ Site and is internationally recognised.

Facilities
Car park (Eudoria Street, Gosnells), recreational area, playground, gas barbecues, universal toilets and paths.

The Friends of Mary Carroll Park help to look after the lake and surrounding environment. The aim of the group is to - rehabilitate, preserve and maintain the natural environment of Mary Carroll Park for the benefit and well being of the natural flora and fauna.

Their objectives are – to promote community awareness, liase with City of Gosnells and other relevant bodies to increase community involvement by Education, displays and practical means.

The Group undertakes many activities including:

Walking Group - Friday am - Meet Eudoria Street car park
Birdwatching - Easy access from Eudoria Street car park

37 water birds and 32 song birds have been recorded including migratory birds – eg. Rainbow Bee-eater, Tattler. The best time to view waterbirds is 7-9am and 5-8pm as this is when most are feeding.

Eco Walks and Talks –supported by the City of Gosnells. Bookings essential - 9452 9901. Gold Coin Donation. Meet Eudoria Street car park.

National Tree Day
Join the Friends planting natives trees and enjoying the lake views.
See you there in suitable clothing for the day and closed in shoes or boots. Everything else will be supplied including a sausage sizzle.

Discovery Walk
Join naturalist extraordinaire, ERIC McCRUM, on a walk around Mary Carroll Park, watching water birds, insects at play, building nests, feeding and learn how they all interact.

Saturday 6th 10am-12noon Caring for our Wetlands
Join one of the staff members from SERCUL to learn about how to care for our wetlands. Take home some ideas about what you can do around and in your home to help keep our wetlands and rivers healthy.

Turtles/Tortoise Day
Join a biologist and hear about sea turtles and how we can help to save them. Find out the difference between turtles and the tortoises of Mary Carroll Lake. Take ideas home about how to protect our tortoises from extinction.

Hop Along with Frogs
Be guided by local naturalist Marc Lane as we hunt out our local frogs. Listen to sounds of a wetland after dark. Year of the Frog.
