Dr Rose Weerasinghe

Senior Scientist and Restoration Ecologist

B. Science and Special Degree of Botany with Upper Division Honours, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, 1994; Ph.D. in Wildlife Ecology, University of Tokyo, Japan, 1999; Post-Doctoral Research in Restoration Ecology, University of Tokyo, Japan, 2003.

Rose has extensive experience in plant and animal interactions and restoration research for conservation activities. She has worked in wetland ecology in the mountain ranges of Sri Lanka, as a National Consultant of Dry Zone-Flora, was a member of the IUCN-Fauna and Flora National Conservation Review Team of Sri Lanka (1994 – 1996), as a Co-operative Researcher (Ecologist) at the University of Tokyo, Japan (2004 – 2007).

Rose provides scientific evaluation advice and training to SERCUL restoration project officers, undertakes scientific research as required by SERCUL and assists to evaluate the monitoring data associated with SERCUL project sites.
