Over 6km in length and 266ha in area, the Canning River Regional Park varies from Eucalypt woodland bordering a billabong and a stretch of fresh-water river at one end to shallow reed and paperbark fringed tidal stretches at the other. From one end of the year to the there there are also subtle changes in the landscape, plants and birds, as well as on-going work within the park to maintain both natural and developed areas and to address current problems. If you have ever wondered why the riverine habitat varies so much, whether plants are local or introduced, when the kingfishers arrive or how the area was used in the early days, this book will help to broaden your knowledge.
